Our university has Welcome to COST Action 1002
Farm Animal Proteomics
There is an increasing awareness of the potential of proteomic technologies to study production animals but the use of proteomic strategies to investigate animal health and disease has been limited by the lack of international coordination and collaboration. The COST action will form a network of the leading European scientists who are focused on farm animal proteomics, but it is also designed to encourage participation of researchers who are at an early stage of utilizing the range of proteomic methods which are becoming available. This network will benefit the European Research Area scientific community by providing a conduit for the rapid dissemination of knowledge on the techniques and applications of this rapidly advancing area. It will benefit the European economy by providing advanced analytical tools to enhance animal production, health and welfare, as well as in the assessment of food quality and safety related to the protein in food produced from animal origin..
Advancing Proteomic Technologies for Animal Health and Production
Proteomic technologies have emerged as a powerful tool in the study of production animals, offering unprecedented insights into their biology, health, and disease resistance. Despite this potential, the widespread application of proteomic strategies in animal health research has been hindered by the lack of international coordination and collaboration. Addressing this gap, the COST Action initiative seeks to establish a robust network of leading European scientists dedicated to the advancement of farm animal proteomics.
This initiative is designed not only to consolidate expertise in the field but also to foster the participation of researchers who are in the early stages of integrating proteomic methods into their studies. By creating a collaborative platform, the network will facilitate knowledge exchange and enhance access to cutting-edge proteomic techniques, ensuring rapid dissemination of advancements across the European Research Area. The benefits of this initiative extend beyond the scientific community. Strengthening proteomic research in farm animals will provide valuable analytical tools to improve animal health and welfare, optimize production efficiency, and contribute to food safety and quality assurance. By harnessing proteomic advancements, Europe can enhance its agricultural economy, ensuring sustainable and ethical animal production systems.Furthermore, the integration of proteomics in veterinary and agricultural research will pave the way for innovative solutions to emerging animal diseases, improving disease diagnostics and intervention strategies. As this network strengthens international collaboration, it will accelerate the application of proteomics in animal sciences, positioning Europe at the forefront of global research in farm animal health and production. In conclusion, the establishment of a coordinated proteomics network will play a critical role in transforming farm animal research, benefiting both scientific progress and economic development. Through shared expertise and advanced analytical tools, this initiative will drive innovation, ensuring the continued improvement of animal health, welfare, and food safety across Europe.
